Great series with lots of crazy and over the top shenanigans with some vulgar and profound language to add on the top. It’s not like it just plays on being provoking. It also uses a lot of other elements to make the show interesting, even if all the crazy stuff might take up a lot of space.
Rick and Morty is made by adult swim and follows a very simple recipe, It’s over the top. The show is about morty that gets dragged along by his grandpa on super weird and wild adventures. It’s based around Rick being a super genius mad scientist, which leads to interdimensional and really creative and unique adventures, that you won’t find anywhere else. It’s a very inventive show with all the original and strange ideas they put into it.
So the idea originated from short parody film of the Back to the Future films. It then evolved into an alcoholic super scientist with a grandson that rides along as he gets more and more emotionally scared through their many interdimensional adventures. The whole show has actually been summarized as one big fart joke wrapped around a studied look into nihilism. Which essentially means dumb jokes while following some egocentric asshole who doesn’t give a shit about anything. And there is actually a point to this as the show almost makes Rick out to be an all knowing creature. So there is a point in why he doesn’t give a shit about anything as it literally means nothing to him.
So, what to take from that. It’s a fun and really weird comedy show on drugs and a few steroids. Some creative folk came up with a fun idea and just cranked all the knobs they could up to max. It is really well made and there has been put a lot of love and care in to the animation and characters which along with everything else makes it a good show. Is it for everyone? no. Is it really deep? no. But is it really good and fun? heck yeah!
Go have a laugh if you like and enjoy some creative ideas and plot twists you won’t see coming if that’s of interest to you. I can guarantee you’ll experience at least one if not both of those things.
