The Grizzled

The Grizzled is the game you pick up if you want a real challenge with your friends. It’s a really fun and difficult game where you cooperate with your teammates trying not to fail the missions to the best off your ability. The end goal is to get rid of all cards in your hand as well as in the peace pile and you’ve won the game.

The setup is very simple. All you have to do is split the deck into two piles, one on the peace card and another one one the monument card. Choose a character each and give out support tiles to everyone and lastly decide on a mission leader for the first round. You then all draw 3 cards and you’re off to go.

Each round starts with the mission leader placing one of his trial cards down. There are two types of trial cards. Hard knocks works like debuffs to a specific player and threats are placed down on the table in the no man’s land. The no man’s land is where everyone places down their threats as they try to get rid of all their cards. The biggest thing here is that you can’t have more than 3 of the same threat in the no man’s land or else you will fail the mission and put the cards back on the peace pile. You then take turns placing your cards down until you can’t place anymore. Once you can’t do anything else is when you put down your support tile on the table choosing a player and ending the round for you. Once the round is over shall you transfer a minimum of 3 cards from the monument pile to the peace pile or the amount of cards total people have left on their hands.

It can sound a little complicated at first but once you get it going is it quite simple. But no matter how simple it is to play is it still really tough and difficult to beat. My friends and I always have a blast playing this whether or not were losing or winning because of how fun and challenging the game is. There is also a modification you can play with that makes the game even harder called “trap doors”. We’ve only won once or twice with this despite a good amount of attempts.

So if you want a challenging and interesting coop board game then I’m confident in recommending the grizzled for sure.
